Truth be told, Lily has seen scarier (which is pretty depressing when you think about it). She did expect Alex to jump that far, but she didn't expect he'd do it so fast. She springs back just in time, with Alex so close that Lily can feel his breath on her face as his jaws snap shut. Though his teeth miss, his claws catch her left arm, and they carve four long, ugly gashes into her skin. To Lily, it's just a flesh wound. Her reasoning is, if she can't see through to her bone in a wound, 'tis but a scratch.
Still hurts like a motherfucker, though.
Running is no longer an option. Alex is far too close for Lily to escape without a fight. If he wants a fight, then fine. They'll fight. Until Lily can escape, at the very least. Lily doesn't have much experience in fighting leopards, but she sure knows how to fight bears and chipmunks. It's amazing how many creatures are susceptible to a punch in the face. Lily ain't a thinker, but in battle, you don't need to think. You need to act.
So she swings her fist at Alex's jaw in an uppercut. Her left arm might be injured, but her right arm sure isn't.
